Senior interior designer
at Run For The Hills
Run For The Hills is looking for a senior residential interior designer to join the team in London.
We are a super creative, award-winning design studio, fashioning exciting and unique residential and F&B design projects. We get involved in almost every aspect of designing the spaces we create, from designing stylish peoples’ homes, residences, guest stays and holiday homes to hotels, bars and restaurants. From the interiors to the exterior, gardens and terraces. Designing every element of the interiors: from finishes to FF&E, creation of original art and lots of bespoke lighting and joinery design.
You will work on exciting UK and international projects, working alongside the creative directors. Whilst very much running the design, client handling and day-to-day management of multiple residential interior projects.
In terms of your track record, you will need to have fantastic design skills, and bags of experience running creative and cool residential jobs already, driving the detailed CAD design, client communication and implementation of stylish homes, private residences and possibly boutique guest stays and hotels too.

Key duties:
- to act as senior designer on residential and boutique residential guest stay projects from concept to completion and photography
- working into the creative lead and creative director, but very much leading and driving your projects day to day and managing and mentoring the junior team
- conceptualizing and delivering amazing residential designs, which look and work brilliantly for clients, presenting creative and technical work beautifully
- leading and inspiring the rest of the team, problem-solving and mentoring
- active involvement in pitching for business, fee proposals and contracts with others
- once a project is won; setting up, planning and scheduling timings plans
- creating the design project strategy
- creating and returning design analysis and return briefs\
- creating exciting concepts, developed design schemes, detailed technical design packs, specifications and tender documentation for sharing with clients and contractors
- ensuring design meets the brief, coming to life brilliantly within budget
- setting design to-dos and deadlines for the team
- doing hands-on concept and CAD design and hand-sketching, art directing CGIs, sourcing, procurement and putting together schemes and all other creative assets and project documentation relating to projects
- briefing, delegating, overseeing and directing others in all of the above, including directing and editing others’ design work, sourcing and procurement activity
- leading site meetings and internal studio meetings with clients, suppliers and contractors, also mentoring others to do so, giving them a clear role in meetings
- managing project teams alongside the interiors project manager, creative design lead and studio manager
- managing project budgets, estimates and reconciliations
- tracking of profitability on projects (analysis on Tick)
- transferring those learnings into fee proposals and negotiations
- training other team members in creativity, leadership and client handling
Skills and experience needed:
- a really exciting design portfolio in creative and cool residential design
- both highly creative and technically strong
- experience working in a client-facing capacity at a senior level
- strong understanding of project set up, procedures and processes
- evidence of running large-scale projects for a minimum of four to five years
- job-leading experience is essential (acting as day-to-day client contact)
- evidence of running multiple projects comfortably
- strong construction and ‘on site’ knowledge and experience
- inventive, stylish sourcing and specifying of finishes and FF&E
- experience negotiating with suppliers for best price and value for clients
- proven experience working with fabricators and specialist suppliers and manufacturers to design and procure bespoke products and finishes
- excellent organisation skills & proven ability to work well under pressure
- ability to prioritise and deliver projects within budget and timescales
- willingness to go the extra mile where necessary
- excellent technical skills with a beady eye for detail
- CAD: Vectorworks/willingness to transition to VWX from AutoCAD
- excellent skills with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Sketch Up (a bonus)
- great communication skills and staying ahead of to-do lists
- a really positive, entrepreneurial attitude
- experience managing and inspiring more junior team designers

We work from a stylish studio in Queen’s Park in London (NW6) on Lonsdale Road, with lots of buzzy restaurants and other architect and designer ateliers and workshops.
