Isle of Skye, Scotland
Experienced architect/associate director
at Rural Design Architects

Rural Design is looking for an experienced architect/associate director to join our team on the Isle of Skye, UK.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with strong design skills to contribute to the vision for the practice. You’ll be exposed to the full range of our work including one-off homes, affordable housing and local community projects. Scattered across the Scottish Highlands and Islands and in extraordinary settings, each of our projects provides exciting opportunities.

About the post

We would be delighted to hear from you if you’re an all-rounder with experience of managing projects under traditional contracts and motivating others to produce their best work. We anticipate that you are currently in a similar role, have at least eight years post-qualification experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability running small-to-mid scale projects.

As one of our first points of contact with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders, you will have great communication skills and be highly organised. Vectorworks experience is advantageous but not essential.

The post is full-time, based in our studio in Portree and we anticipate you will either be considering relocation or living on or near the Isle of Skye. For those relocating we would consider a hybrid working arrangement initially.

About us

We provide competitive remuneration and the opportunity to develop your career. We’re a friendly team, keen to share our knowledge and skills. Each of us enjoys taking advantage of all the Highlands have to offer and the practice provides an excellent work-life balance.
