Sergison Bates Architects is hiring a project architect to join its team in Brussels, Belgium.
We are looking for an English and Dutch speaking project architect with strong design skills and demonstrable experience in worksite management in Belgium, to work on a university project in Hasselt and other projects located in Belgium.
Skills required:
- professional proficiency in English and Dutch, fluency in French is an added advantage
- ten-plus years’ experience on Belgian construction projects
- skilled in Vectorworks and 3D software
How we work
Sergison Bates Architects is a European practice in outlook with three partners, five associates, two senior architects and 30 staff. We are currently involved in a wide range of international projects ranging from urban planning to adaptive re-use and regeneration, public buildings and housing.
Our main office is in Clerkenwell, London which was established in 1996. We set up a second studio in Zurich in 2010, and in 2019 formed Atelier Kanal, a collaborative studio based in Brussels following the winning of the Kanal Pompidou Centre with noAarchitecten and EM2N. In January 2024, we opened a satellite studio to the London office in Brussels to help in managing the increased number of projects we have in Belgium.
Our approach to work is based on a collaborative ethos – we value teamwork both as a way of developing rewarding relationships with colleagues, clients and consultants, and as a tool for broadening our cultural and disciplinary references. The Hasselt project is a case in point, as we won the competition in collaboration with Laboratoire architecture from Liège. One of the founding partners, Arnaud de Francesco was a former member of Atelier Kanal and Sergison Bares architects who left after a successful and fruitful collaboration to set up his own office in 2021.
Salary
Freelance based on day rate, dependent on experience.
Contract type
We are ideally looking for a full-time collaborator. Our working regime entails an eight hour working day with core hours between 11am and 6pm to align with out London office.
Place of work
You will be based in our Brussels studio, with regular day visits to our London studio.
