Situ Plan has a vacancy for a BIM coordinator to join its team in Reading, UK.

Due to our current workload, we are looking for a talented BIM coordinator to join our team in Reading, Berkshire, UK.

The studio

Situ Plan Ltd was established in March 2018, in Reading, UK, as a specialist strategic planning, landscape design, urban design and architecture consultancy, led by managing director Nick Sweet, former partner at Barton Wilmore LLP.

The team at Situ have a significant reputation and extensive experience in the delivery of projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia and America and because of this reputation we have experienced significant growth since the studio was established, with the team now comprising 18 full-time staff.

Whilst we look to develop our UK presence, our current portfolio of work is based primarily in the Middle East with several major design projects underway ranging from strategic master planning through to the detailed design of a major art installation and park of 17km2. Alongside this detailed work we have a series of large-scale master planning and urban design projects.

The role:

As a BIM coordinator, you will be a part of our architecture team and will report to the technical director.

You must be able to work independently or as part of a team and with other disciplines both within the office and with external consultants.

  • ability to create and set-up Revit and VectorWorks models producing SITU standard working drawings (architecture and landscape team)
  • collaborate with project teams to establish BIM goals and objectives and ensure that they are met in a timely and efficient manner
  • develop, implement and maintain BIM standards, guidelines and best practices for the company
  • provide technical support and training to project teams on BIM software and processes
  • manage the BIM data and ensure its accuracy and completeness throughout the project lifecycle
  • coordinate and manage the integration of BIM models from multiple disciplines
  • act as a liaison between project teams and external stakeholders to ensure the exchange of BIM data and information is seamless and effective
  • ensure that project teams comply with all BIM requirements, including quality control, project delivery and model management
  • monitor BIM technology advancements and recommend improvements to enhance the company’s BIM processes and standards
  • assist with management of software licensing with studio manager

About you:

  • bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management
  • three plus years of experience in BIM coordination in the architecture, engineering or construction industry
  • advanced knowledge of BIM software including AutoCAD, Revit, VectorWorks, BIM360, Navisworks and Rhino
  • experience with BIM standards, including BS1192 and PAS 1192-2
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • additional creative flare with Photoshop, 3D modelling (SketchUp and Modelur) and presentation skills is advantageous
  • Middle East projects experience would be preferred but not necessary
  • self-motivated personality with the ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams on multiple tasks to project timelines & crucial deadlines
  • attention to detail in every aspect with good organisational skills
  • shows willingness and enthusiasm, actively contribute and be seen as a team player
