Purpose of the position
Over the past 20 years, our creative director has developed a strong design aesthetic which is distinctive to Soane, with custom and bespoke orders making up a significant proportion of our revenue. Soane Bespoke is a consultative service offered to clients who wish to realise individual commissions that draw on Soane Britain’s design expertise. As part of the creative and design team, you will be responsible for those individual projects to ensure a smooth transition from concept to installation and act as the first point of contact with our sales operations team, with the focus on providing design, quotations, pricing and technical support.
You will work collaboratively with the design team and with our workshops, taking drawings from concept through to construction, ensuring they are consistent, accurate, current, effectively communicated and meet the demands of the budget.
Duties and responsibilities:
- working on briefs taken from our sales operations team, identifying and understanding their customer needs and maintaining the flow of the project information, providing detailed quotations within deadlines and ensuring we are achieving desired margins
- produce drawings to the appropriate level of detailing for client approval and ensure drawings are accurate to manufacture against
- as part of the creative and design team, you will feedback on issues and ideas to help develop processes, customer service and products and improve their capability and performance
- maintain bespoke training resources and guidelines
- work with the design manager to create custom and bespoke considerations on new designs
- using SolidWorks and the CAD database to ensure all files are up-to-date and to the latest revision, clear, consistent, accessible and in accordance with the company’s standards
- to provide technical support to colleagues
Qualifications for the position:
- minimum of three years’ professional experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably lighting and/or furniture
- SolidWorks proficiency
- you will have experience using the Adobe Suite, mainly InDesign and Acrobat Pro
- you will have a technical and commercial understanding of furniture and lighting construction, materials and techniques for effective manufacture
- you will have strong collaborative skills and be a confident and capable communicator
- you will be able to work to deadlines with strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills
- you will possess a keen eye for detail, with an appreciation for the highest quality craftsmanship and materials
