Job description

As a social media and communications assistant, you will work closely with the head of communications and team to provide important context on Olafur Eliasson’s broad practice, which spans research and experimental activities, exhibitions, artworks and individual projects.

The communications team at Studio Olafur Eliasson looks after all aspects of public relations from text production, press work, social media, marketing, merchandise and documentation.

Working directly with the head of communications and communications manager, you will be responsible for updating communication schedules, responding to incoming requests, and scheduling engaging social media content. We are looking for an individual who is happy to follow and work with our current social media style.

With knowledge of database systems and archiving, you will professionally organise and prepare texts and images, alongside caption information, to share with external parties. You will keep track of media requests, archive images and press coverage.

With a good understanding of documentation, you will ensure that exhibitions and projects are photographed and filmed to fit studio guidelines. Working with the communications and exhibitions teams, you will steer, review, and approve image usage for marketing material and social media content.

Your skills:

  • you have at least two years of professional experience in communication, preferably in a contemporary art context
  • you are experienced in working with digital platforms and social media including Instagram, X and TikTok
  • you are experienced in liaising with external teams and juggling requests
  • you have a great eye for detail and are confident in selecting and collating content
  • you have excellent organisational skills and are comfortable working with databases
  • you have good image editing skills and a sensibility for photography and graphic design
  • you are comfortable working in English and can write text to a high standard
  • you are an enthusiastic team player and are happy working with a large team
  • you grasp dynamic briefs quickly
  • you are experienced in responding to complex situations quickly and professionally
  • during the occasional busy times, you are able to work flexible hours
  • you have a strong interest in art, design and/or photography

Desirable:

  • experience using graphic design programs including the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and other image and video-editing software

Language requirements:

  • English is required (C1/C2)
  • proficiency in German or other languages a plus

The studio team consists of specialised technicians, architects, artists, art historians, cooks and administrators. We work with Eliasson to experiment, develop, and install artworks, projects, and exhibitions as well as to communicate and contextualise his work.
