Studio Tashima is hiring an architectural technician/technical designer to join its team in London.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate technical designer with three to five years’ of experience as an architectural technician in the UK to take on a pivotal role in our practice. This role would initially start as a part-time/freelance role with the option to grow to a full time position. This is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to lead and inspire technical excellence, bridging creativity and precision to deliver exceptional design solutions.

Key responsibilities:
- champion technical design excellence throughout all project stages
- translate design concepts into construction drawings, including details for joinery, construction, and materials
- ensure projects meet compliance, health, and safety standards while delivering designs with lasting quality
- provide expert technical advice to the team, supporting projects and resolving challenges
- conduct site visits and liaise with construction teams and subcontractors as required
- lead technical reviews, workshops, and training to enhance the team’s skills
- develop and maintain a digital library of technical details for consistency and efficiency
- stay updated on regulations, construction best practices, and emerging trends
- manage CAD processes, ensuring seamless interoperability and quality output
Skills and experience:
- a deep understanding of the synergy between technical design and spatial experience
- strong knowledge of construction and design, with excellent attention to detail
- leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team
- proficiency in Vectorworks and familiarity with 3D CAD software (a bonus)
- highly organised, able to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects
