Junior designer – show homes

Suna Interior Design is an award-winning London based boutique interior design consultancy providing interior services for property developers and the hospitality industry. Helen Fewster and Rebecca Tucker head up the London-based studio ensuring that a high level of attention is dedicated to each client and project.

We are looking for a junior designer to come and join our busy and creative studio to work on a number of exciting projects in the show home sector. Working within a project team, the junior designer will be fully immersed at all levels of the design process on a daily basis via their own projects. Working on design concepts and presentations, sourcing images, creating AutoCAD plans, Photoshop editing and setting up presentation boards through to the installation of projects on site.

For this role, candidates should clearly show competent knowledge and natural passion for great design and have high attention to detail. A good knowledge of furniture, fabrics and wallpaper and where to source them from is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities:

  • research, create, prepare and present design concepts and mood boards
  • designing show home schemes, working on projects from concept to completion
  • space planning and pricing plot moves
  • sourcing and selecting furniture, wallpapers and fabrics according to set budgets
  • space planning and basic level technical drawings
  • attending client meetings, presentations and handovers with a senior designer
  • keeping up to date with new developments and design trends in the design industry

Required experience and skills:

  • two years’ minimum of professional, related experience
  • interior design degree or relevant qualification
  • experience preferred working within the show home industry
  • experience using EstiPC or EstiMac
  • CSCS card required
  • full, clean, UK driving licence an advantage
  • experience using InDesign, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Illustrator and Microsoft Office Suite
  • an eye for design and colour, with good 3D and spatial awareness
  • good knowledge of UK suppliers (furniture, fabric and wallpaper)
  • strong organisational skills, to ensure each project is completed on time and to budget
  • strong communication skills, both written and verbal to present and sell the designs, promote and explain ideas
  • project management skills, including ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • ability to work effectively as part of a team, on multiple projects
  • desire to learn and develop
  • comfortable following a client’s brief, mindful of the timeline, deliverables and scope
  • experience in working on projects from concept through to completion
  • comfortable working on a broad spectrum of projects at a fast pace and able to quickly adapt to different processes
  •  ability to bring innovative and fresh ideas to each project
