Tara Bernerd & Partners is looking for an experienced project lead to join its growing design team in London.


Must have over years’ post-graduate industry experience within a similar role, with proven track record of working independently and as a team to deliver interior design schemes across various scales of project. Experience working to a high level of excellence, from initial briefing and concept to site installation. Strong working knowledge of FF&E.

Key tasks – creative:

  • coordinate multiple pieces of project-related research whilst also developing the in-house studio aesthetic
  • oversee overall creative direction for assigned projects, ensuring design DNA is maintained throughout
  • lead a team to produce presentation documentation

Key tasks – project delivery:

  • coordinate with client and other consultants to set budgets, and communicate these to the team. Oversee all programmes to ensure the project remains on time and to budget
  • be able to communicate directly with the wider consultant team, understanding their motivation whilst protecting the needs of the studio at all times
  • guide the team in handling issues, share knowledge and train them in standards and expectations. Understand contractual and other requirements from the client in relation to deliverables and scope

Key tasks – project management:

  • lead presentation across all client meetings and calls, and delegate items/areas to other team members where applicable
  • manage the deadlines and internal checking process. Manage internal and external feedback to ensure included as appropriate
  • set out drawing requirements for each project, including deadlines for individual team members. Advise on the level of detail required and check all information before issued
  • produce detailed programmes around production information that are in line with the client’s project programme. Keep the team and the client up to date at all times
  • identify likely problems before they arise, keeping the team and client informed as appropriate. Know when to take remedial action
  • forge strong relationships with key client members, and serve as the lead contact on key communication. Hold a good relationship with the wider team as a studio representative
  • manage internal and external budgets. Be aware of resourcing expectations for the team, reporting any issues to relevant internal parties
  • work with directors on opportunities with new and existing clients

Skills and knowledge:

  • advanced experience in leading the production of full interior design drawing packages with fully coordinated specification schedules
  • advanced knowledge of building regulations and building restrictions
  • excellent space analysis skills, understanding of layouts and zoning
  • strong experience selecting and documenting interior architectural finishes
  • an excellent understanding of joinery construction and materials
  • proven experience in FF&E sourcing, coordination and scheduling – including VE exercises
  • experience leading the production of detailed drawing packages
  • proven ability to coordinate clearly with contractors and red-mark construction/shop drawings
  • strong leadership skills, including excellent time-management and organisation
  • positive attitude
  • excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • well organised, detail-focused and thorough

Technical proficiency

Proven ability and strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, SpecSources/SpecDesigner software, InDesign, Photoshop, and hand sketching.
