Tatjana von Stein is hiring a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in London.

Role

Play a key role in the design and delivery of projects from RIBA stages 1 to 7, ensuring creativity and precision are applied throughout the process.

Knowledge and experience: 

  • solid awareness of the design industry, including trends, events, awards and notable project openings
  • extensive experience in high-end interior design for both residential and hospitality sectors
  • minimum four plus years of experience in a professional interior design role, demonstrating progression and development
  • comprehensive knowledge of RIBA stages and their associated deliverables (Interior Design and FF&E)
  • strong understanding of suppliers, budgets and procurement for both ID and FF&E.
  • well-versed in materials, samples and sustainability considerations (ID and FF&E).

Design expertise and contribution: 

  • exhibits strong creative flair, with a proven ability to contribute innovative ideas to the design process
  • designs in line with the creative direction set by the design director (DD), associate (AS) or senior designer (SD), while bringing unique insights to the table
  • demonstrates a deep understanding of design history and eras, applying this knowledge to enhance project narratives
  • passionate about interior design, detailing and sustainability, with a commitment to creating thoughtful, long-lasting spaces

Skill set

  • works confidently to meet project expectations set by the DD, AS or SD and supports the delivery of project goals
  • contributes to the drawing issue sheet, ensuring workload is tracked against deliverables

Stage 1: supports early-stage design by researching imagery and preparing initial layouts
Stage 2: sources materials, creates visuals (2D Photoshop renders, sketches) and prepares mood boards and presentation documents
Stage 3: produces precise CAD drawings and schedules that reflect the design intent
Stage 4: develops detailed joinery drawings, elevations and oversees/reviews the technical work of external consultants
Stage 5: oversees mark-ups, attends workshops and liaises with suppliers to ensure the project progresses smoothly
Stage 6: assists with the final dressing and installation of projects, ensuring a polished finish alongside the senior designer and associate director

Project management:

  • has a solid understanding of stage deliverables and keeps track of monthly invoicing
  • proactively monitors the Document Issue Sheet to ensure that all allocated deliverables are met on time
  • keeps the SD or AS informed of progress, highlighting any issues early on
  • uses initiative to find alternative tasks or solutions during project delays

Client management:

  • represents the design team in client meetings and presentations, assisting with the preparation of materials and taking detailed minutes
  • participates in key workshops and collaborates with the wider project team to deliver outstanding results
