Technical designer – CAD/Solidworks
at The Light Lab
The Light Lab is looking for a technical designer with CAD/Solidworks experience to join its team in London.
The Light Lab are specialists in the design, build and manufacture of bespoke lighting solutions within the architectural lighting design industry.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working technical designer to work full-time in our studio, based in Shoreditch.
You will be working alongside a team of project managers, led by the production manager, creating architectural drawings for bespoke lighting projects.
The ideal candidate must have the following:
- expert working knowledge of AutoCAD (especially 2D & 3D drawings) and Solidworks
- good technical fabrication drawing ability and the aptitude and confidence to provide input on the design process
- a keen eye and great attention to detail
- some experience with with Adobe Creative Suite (Ps,Ai,Id), Sketchup + Dialux; would also be helpful
- a knowledge of construction and glazing/metalwork structures and design is essential for this role
- survey and site skills would be highly advantageous; with a proven ability to communicate effectively with a team onsite to integrate changes into the design process
- candidates from an engineering background are preferred
We work on many high-profile projects in the UK and worldwide, so your work will be very visible. Recent projects include Penn Station NYC, King’s Cross underground tunnel, Samsung, Waterloo station; with projects in development including Wembley Stadium-Bobby Moore Bridge, Birmingham New St, Grand Central and Google London HQ.
Ideal start date Monday 29th July.
Salary from £28-35K dependent on skillset and experience.
