The Royal Parks is seeking a principal landscape architect (FTC) to join its team in London.

About us

 

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

We are now looking for a Principal Landscape Architect to join us on a full-time basis, for a fixed term contract of 18 months.

The role

As principal landscape architect, you will contribute to the design and management of our resilient and sustainable parks, facilitating their post-pandemic renewal.

Supporting our head of landscape, you will lead a wide range of projects, ensuring design quality and consistency. You will provide technical skills using AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, KeySCAPE and NBS Chorus.

Working closely with internal teams and specialists, you will develop project briefs through concept design to delivery, as well as supporting the development of strategies and park management plans.

Additionally, you will:

  • ensure design quality and consistency across all the parks
  • provide design and technical support
  • be responsible for project and contract management
  • develop presentation material
  • support engagement events and activities

About you

To be considered as a principal landscape architect, you will need:

  • experience in design development, detailing, tender, and contract administration and delivery
  • extensive experience with IT packages including MS Office programmes, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, KeySCAPE, NBS Chorus, or similar
  • experience working in a team
  • experience working with NEC3, JCL, JCT or similar contracts
  • strong design and drawing skills, both digitally and by hand
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively
  • good working knowledge of Health & Safety principles, practices and risk management
  • the ability to prioritise a busy workload, multitask, and perform effectively under pressure
  • a postgraduate and/or master’s qualification in Landscape Architecture, with significant post-chartership experience
