Design manager

The White Wall Company is looking for a design manager to join its team in London.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved with unique art fabrication projects for world-renowned artists and galleries. In this role, you will work closely with the design team to ensure drawings are issued to high standards, quality and timescale. You will collaborate with the production supervisor to facilitate excellent workflow between the fabrication workshop and the office team. You will oversee design and material ordering processes and you will work with the production and project supervisors to plan and inform project schedules.  You will help organise material purchasing, subcontractor management and oversee the flow of drawings and materials to the workshop.

Key responsibilities

Design and procurement:

  • ensure all drawings and designs are produced to company standards and quality
  • facilitate coordination between designers and the workshop to ensure all required materials and drawings are available in a timely fashion; act as the main point of contact between the design team and fabrication teams
  • coordinate design drawing deadlines and drawing issues to clients and fabrication teams
  • survey and monitor suppliers and subcontractors to consolidate orders, deliveries and ensure the company is accepting the best prices

Exhibitions support:

  • work closely with exhibitions project managers to monitor budget, client requests and design specification changes
  • coordinate all exhibition drawing tasks and drawing issue

General:

  • develop and maintain good systems of sharing information
  • assist with managing project resources and project timelines

Essential skills and experience:

  • minimum three years’ experience managing a team
  • minimum five years’ experience in project management
  • ability to read drawings and 3D Files (Rhino, Solidworks) and literate in Microsoft Office
  • strong and clear communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively and be open-minded
  • experience working in fabrication and/or exhibitions and/or the arts
