Tholos Architects is hiring a Part 2/3 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Tholos Architects is a young company with a bold character.

We specialise in the design and delivery of residential and commercial projects from the small to the medium scale:

• new build housing
• extensions, loft conversions, home improvements and renovations
• retail, hospitality, boutique hotellerie
• interior design

We aim at building an interdisciplinary and offbeat team, very attentive to sustainability and proud of providing an outstanding level of service to our clients.

We are currently looking to expand our team with someone who can genuinely fit in the company culture and participate in its development.

Note: As we are relocating the office, the role will initially be flexible/remote but attendance will be required in central/west London.

The ideal candidate will have:

• previous experience as a Part 1/2/3 architectural assistant, working in a UK practice
• experience with surveying and design work on private residential projects (RIBA Stages 1-3 at least, 1-4 preferred)
• interest in commercial projects
• creative design flair with good presentation skills, proven drawing accuracy, a good understanding of construction / exposure to RIBA Stage 4
• ability to work independently to deadlines and project deliverables
• proficiency in working with AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, Word and Excel
• excellent communication skills and good command of the English language
• curiosity, spatial thinking, focus and trainability
• interest in sustainability and regenerative architecture
• right to work in UK (mandatory, we can not offer visa sponsorship)

It would be a bonus for your application to possess some of the following:

• proficiency in working with ArchiCAD
• experience with planning process/Building Regulation in England
• LEED, Estidama, Green Star, Passivhaus knowledge/exposure
• experience in Austria
• command of other languages (especially DE/RU)

What to expect:

• digitalise measured survey drawings and draft proposals, using AutoCAD (or ArchiCAD) working with the senior architect, creating plans, elevations, sections and details of buildings
• draft project briefings and statements, also under dictation
• take part in site surveys, site meetings
• prepare moodboards and presentations (layouts and/or slides)
• prepare BOQs and FFE schedules
• help with general office duties (manage correspondence, track deliveries/inventories, keep records on agenda)
• office based role, once the new office is set up

The role is an office-based full-time permanent contract, subject to a six month probationary period.

Salary: from £25k to £40k, based on experience
