Project architect
at Unagru

Unagru is looking for a project architect to join its East London studio.

Unagru is a young practice with a varied background in urbanism, ecological design, and architecture and a growing portfolio of private residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes. We embrace collaborations and being multidisciplinary.

In the past year, we have completed several projects and won some awards, we have created a website to help people find alternatives to gas boilers (nomoregas.org), and fitted out our co-owned office space. We are working to expand our portfolio, particularly in commercial, housing and community projects. We have a strong commitment to sustainability, pragmatism and design.

We want to meet someone who will become a leader within the practice and will help us grow and diversify.  The ideal candidate will have at least four years’ post-qualification experience. You will be very passionate about architecture and construction technology. You will contribute to the company’s growth by improving processes and standards, investing time in education and sharing knowledge with the team.  You will be confident working independently and collaborating effectively in a project team through all design phases. You will learn to coordinate and manage projects from start to finish and deal directly with clients, contractors, and consultants. You will have exceptional attention to detail.

The basics

You will be working on and leading one private residential project and one retail, alongside preparing competition entries and design concepts for new projects. You may be asked to assist with some UK/Europe-based projects.

Successful candidates will have:

  • a minimum of two years of working experience using AutoCAD and Revit
  • at least one year as a project architect or similar
  • exceptional conceptual design and technical design ability
  • a thorough understanding of architectural projects’ design approach and workflow
  • technical knowledge of planning, building regulations and housing standards
  • excellent communication skills and be perfectly fluent in English
  • good attitude and synergy working with other collaborators
  • willingness to take charge of the practice and lead others
