Freelance mid-weight/senior interior designer
at Uncanny Studio
Uncanny Studio is hiring a freelance mid-weight/senior interior designer to join its team in London.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a talented designer to become an important member of our team where you will have real autonomy and take a key defining role.
Our ideal candidate will be highly organised, have an excellent design portfolio, good specification knowledge, technical drawing experience and will have completed a range of residential and hospitality projects.
The position is open for a freelance mission of six months which will lead to a permanent position if successful.

Uncanny Studio is a London and Paris based creative design firm aiming to redefine sensory and creative experiences through interior design. Whether it’s a cosy home or a bigger scale hotel, we challenge conventional thinking to take our clients on a journey of emotions, sensations and memories.
Key responsibilities:
- 2D drawings for construction using Vectorworks (general layouts, space planning, etc.)
- knowledge in sustainability is welcome
- designing bespoke joinery and furniture
- lighting and electrical design and drawings
- managing FF&E schedules and budgets
- on-site management and delivery of projects
- client presentations, including mood boards, 2D drawings, materials and sample boards
- researching and specifying finishes
Skills and experience:
- relevant professional qualification in interior design or architecture, heavily focused on drawing production who will work in close collaboration with directors
- a minimum of four/five years’ experience working in high-end residential and/or hospitality commercial interior design
- client facing – excellent communication and presentation skills
- able to work across multiple projects and manage them from concept through to completion
- creative individual with a keen interest in current trends in architecture and design as well as new innovative materials and specifications
- enjoys working in a dynamic, fast paced team environment
- ability to report on a weekly/daily basis
- able to work independently and as part of a team
- attention to detail is required and good knowledge of detail drawing design and technical principles
- ideally based in London
Software:
- VectorWorks 2022 and above mandatory
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and InDesign)
- SketchUp optional
