Workshop manager (Here East)
The appointment will be on UCL grade 8. The salary range will be £43,884 – £51,769 per annum, inclusive of London allowance.
The post holder will take responsibility for the daily management of the UCL at Here East Workshops and Laboratories leading the cross-faculty technical facility towards the cohesive running, integration and evolution of facilities in accordance with strategic plans the UCL at Here East management board. In this regard, the post holder shall maintain the effective and compliant provision of service, support and teaching within the field of manufacturing research, teaching, design and validation.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing and developing advanced workshops or fabrication facilities, ideally with high-end design/experimental thresholds with a grasp of issues involved in running such a facility in a HEI environment. They would also have experience in high-quality manufacturing and skilled craft, experience creating and co-ordination educative programmes and experience in the generation and management of revenues. Line management experience with experience motivating staff and bringing teams together to achieve a common goal is very important to this role as well as experience of communicating information to others clearly and concisely (often non-specialists), both in person and in writing. Crucially the post holder will be expected to demonstrate a vision for future developments in manufacturing and fabrication processes and be able to share this and inspire others.
