Walder Sharp are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented structural engineer with two years’ post-graduation experience within an engineering consultancy to join our dynamic team. We offer a collaborative environment where you’ll contribute to diverse projects, ranging from residential and educational to commercial. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing, and overseeing the engineering of various structures. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering principles and proficiency in various design software.

Job overview:

  • develop and design structural plans using CAD software
  • conduct structural analysis to ensure designs are safe and compliant with local building codes
  • collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure project specifications are met
  • prepare design intent and specifications using tools such as AutoCAD/Bluebeam/by hand
  • manage projects from conception through to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to
  • perform site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications
  • proficiency in the use of FEA analysis software such as Robot, TSD, etc.
  • provide technical guidance and support to junior/apprentice engineers

Requirements:

  • MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • have a minimum of two years’ post-graduation industry experience
  • strong mathematical skills for structural analysis and system design
  • excellent project management abilities to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
  • knowledge of current Eurocode Design Standards (EC2, EC3)
  • knowledge of current building regulations and safety standards
  • strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders
  • a proactive approach to problem-solving with attention to detail
  • be ambitious with the drive to progress within the company and become a Chartered Structural Engineer
