London, UK
Head of brand, communications and engagement
at Whitby Wood
Whitby Wood is hiring a head of brand, communications and engagement to join its team in London.
The Whitby Wood Group is an ambitious engineering design and advisory consultancy. We are independent, international and lateral-thinking; we use our expertise in the built environment to enable and advocate for its improvement, working with sector-leading clients as a trusted partner.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and strategic head of brand, communications and engagement to drive our growth within the sector and in new markets. Reporting to the operations director, you will be leading brand development, marketing and strategic communications across all business divisions, building our profile in the industry, translating our aspirations into new business opportunities, and managing our creative and high-performing marketing team. The role is based in our London office and focussed predominantly on the UK – with a responsibility to act as brand guardian for our other Group businesses. We are looking for an analytical thinker – someone with a background in the sector and experience working at a senior marcomms level.
Responsibilities:
- develop and deliver an ambitious marketing, business development and comms strategy to support the UK and international ambitions and business plan
- own the brand positioning and manage its evolution to cement our place in the market and support new business activity
- manage all external communications, including social media and press relationships
- be an ambassador for our services, acting as a network-builder and spokesperson to grow our profile in client markets
- lead the business development support function, proactively identifying opportunities to target clients
- create and manage events and business development opportunities to raise the company profile, including company memberships and awards
- oversee the production and continual improvement of bid and project materials and templates to increase quality leads and bid conversion rates
- manage and mentor the in-house marketing team and coordinate with external consultants
Criteria:
- extensive experience of strategic marketing communications, or a related field
- proven track record of leading successful marketing communications campaigns with measurable impact
- proficiency in copywriting, brand management, content marketing, and social media
- excellent communication, presentation and storytelling skills
- an ability to collect and respond to data and insights to optimise business development activity
- passionate about the built environment, sustainability, and developing trusted relationships
The interview process will include the development of a short indicative strategy presentation.
