We’re a Design & Build company, operating an architectural division alongside interior design, cost consultancy and construction, therefore you will have full exposure to all aspects of design and construction (as seen through the lens of the contractor).
We are looking to recruit a self-motivated senior architect to both run individual projects and to help to run the architectural team. This is a great opportunity with amazing future prospects to grow with the Zulufish family.
We operate according to the RIBA stages, focusing on efficient delivery of what is required for our construction teams, so we are looking for an architect with a can-do mentality and a positive approach to moving projects through design as efficiently and creatively as possible.
Role and responsibilities
Advising the architectural design team:
- provide general guidance and advise to the design team of architects and designers
- review drawing packages at all RIBA stages
- expert at technical construction details, particularly Stage 4 RIBA packages
- integrate the design team with the interiors and project management team, including reviewing and improving existing processes
Project running:
- lead your own projects through all RIBA work stages
- manage workload and assess priorities
- be the key point of contact for clients and consultants
- ensure design proposals meet all statutory requirements from the outset, including planning and building regulations
- have a good awareness of the client’s budget and the impact of any design changes
- identify design risk and ensure design risk assessments are created and appropriately maintained for each project to manage and mitigate risk
- liaise with site teams to ensure the delivery of the overall project during construction
Assisting with sales:
- assist directors in managing new client enquiries, creating fee proposals and preparing any necessary feasibility presentations
- carry out initial site visits to meet with potential clients and discuss the design opportunities and constraints with them
Required skills and experience:
- Part 3 UK registered architect (RIBA)
- minimum of ten years project lead work experience within UK
- must have strong experience in mid to high-end residential projects
- be able to manage projects at all RIBA stages
- a thorough understanding of the entire construction process
- experience managing members of an architectural team
- strong residential planning experience (ideally with a strong background in listed buildings including Grosvenor / Crown estates)
- excellent IT skills – AutoCAD, Excel, InDesign as a minimum
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- must be polite and smartly dressed at all times
- fluent in English, verbal and written is essential
