Studio Akamá is seeking a director of project delivery to join its team in Palma de Mallorca.

Role:

  • director project delivery based in Palma de Mallorca
  • potential long term partnership related to business development contribution
  • workplace: 50 per cent in office, 50 per cent on site visits

Scope:

  • overall responsible for the delivery of project according to AKAMÁ standards
  • oversee all projects in the delivery phase: timeline (feasibility check and ensure timely execution, budget (good with numbers, finance), and above all, ensure execution of the design details and defined quality/ precision
  • lead project/construction managers (personnel responsibility)
  • contact person for the client in important issues and contingencies
  • communicate on management level with construction companies, and suppliers
  • expand national and international network of suppliers / subcontractors for the local and international projects
  • communication and liaison with chief designer and architects with regards to planning and design relevant topics
  • supervision of tendering/RFQ process
  • heading of negotiations with suppliers representing the client’s interest
  • adaptation or revision of contracts related to the project delivery
  • communication with lawyers and other project relevant parties on   general topics
  • oversee and improve delivery process, methodology and IT support
  • lead debriefing and lessons learned process to feedback into design process (construction vs. design details)
  • define themes/topics for the knowledge management process together with   the director design

Characteristics/traits:

  • solution-, not problem-orientated
  • very meticulous/high attention to detail
  • very organised/methodical in the approach
  • team player requiring very good communication and interpersonal skills (fair but clear/’hard’)

Education and expertise:

  • architect and/or engineer

Therefore, a mix of technical and architectural education and expertise, i.e.:

  • know their way around a construction site
  • have an eye for aesthetical finishes, detailing, alignment, levelling, centering, proportioning, etc.
  • fluency in English is a must-have and advanced Spanish. German is a plus
  • IT skills: e.g. MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.
  • experience in the field of BIM, passive house, BREEAM, etc. is as plus

Work experience:

  • international work experience or work experience with an international team
  • management of teams of approx. ten people or more
  • minimum 10 to 12 years of relevant experience

Industry experience in an international context within:

  • high end real estate development
  • high end architecture/ design studio
  • high end project management
