Populous is looking for an interim human resources manager to cover maternity leave in London.

We are seeking an experienced, pro-active human resources manager to oversee HR operations supporting 160 people across our 3 offices in the EMEA region. This role is needed to cover maternity leave and is fixed term for 12 months.

Reporting to the head of HR, in this role you will demonstrate your prior generalist operational HR experience at a decision making level within a fast-paced environment. Covering the entire life cycle of employment, your responsibilities will include:

  • providing first class HR advice and guidance to directors, managers and employees
  • delivering the project staffing resourcing plan in partnership with the technical project staffing lead
  • implementing and leading the annual review process
  • guiding managers and employees on employee relations and wellbeing issues
  • managing benefits administration including healthcare, pensions and sharing payroll data with finance
  • execute all legislative changes including pensions and employment case law as appropriate

Populous has recently undertaken significant headcount growth in recent months and this is an exciting time to join our small HR team to help establish scalable processes and workable policies.

Key skills and attributes:

  • degree level education
  • proven experience in a similar generalist HR operations role is essential
  • prior experience in an architectural practice would be an advantage
  • prior experience of supporting senior leaders and employees across all levels
  • capable of thinking strategically and to analyse issues to identify and implement creative solutions
  • exceptional interpersonal skills and the confidence to build relationships
  • professional, personable and approachable but firm
  • able to work collaboratively with proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • resilient, flexible and able to deal with a variety of issues as and when they arise
  • an advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • an excellent command of the English language (verbal and written)
  • the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
