London, UK
Architectural assistant/intern
at DaeWha Kang Design

DaeWha Kang Design is seeking an architectural assistant/intern to join its team in London.

DaeWha Kang Design is looking for someone to build up its fabrication lab and product design arm, developing physical models and 3D-printed prototypes. Sadly our current leader is off to do a master degree in robotic design.

We are looking for a self-starter with an excellent aesthetic eye, a passion for design, and exceptional digital skills. Rhino is a must and Grasshopper and/or Maya are good if you have those skills.

You will be taking over our large-scale 3D-printing workshop and working with our laser cutter to produce physical models and full-scale prototypes of both our architecture and product designs. There will be a lot of experimentation into 3D-printing techniques and designs so this is a design role as much as it is a technical job. You will be closely involved in the design process of the studio.

We have a very ambitious plan for developing our product design arm and are looking for someone who can show leadership potential in this regard. The vision is to integrate new technology with lifestyle and wellbeing functions. You will have to work incredibly hard but there is a great deal of space to learn, grow, and achieve.

You will also assist on architectural projects in the studio, including a museum in the Middle East and an iconic pavilion in central London.

We are a studio of seven people and there is a lot of personal contact with the entire design process. People love working here, and we are looking for someone who is not only a talented designer and a hard worker but also a nice person with a positive attitude. Note that if you join, you will have to participate in our office well-being mentoring and also in the office book club where we read a design-related book together each month.

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
