The New Craftsmen has a vacancy for a showroom assistant to join its team in London.
The New Craftsmen is looking for an ambitious and highly motivated full-time showroom assistant to deliver exceptional service to customers and generate sales. Since launching in 2012, The New Craftsmen has built a business model with sustained growth and a global reputation. We are now a dynamic offline and online platform with a multifaceted approach to bringing craft to market that is globally recognised.
Over the last six years, our offer and proposition has evolved – across makers, products, and services. The showroom is the physical manifestation of this, and enables our clients to connect with and purchase craft in a unique environment. Having launched the studio in Spring 2018, we now also enable our clients to customise our collections and commission our makers.
We are seeking an efficient, effective and enthusiastic member to join the team and ensure excellence across operations and service delivery in our beautiful Mayfair showroom. This means offering a high-quality service experience for customers with impeccable product knowledgeable, to encourage repeat business and ultimately brand loyalty.
In addition you will support on the day-to-day maintenance of the showroom, working with the product and operations teams to define the most effective selection of stock refresh week-by-week, and agree a merchandising plan to execute against.
Passionate about building your knowledge of craft, design and luxury products you will be excited to showcase the best of British craftsmanship.
You will be comfortable holding your own in a wide variety of situations, seeing sales through to completion and ensuring that there is a high level of satisfaction for our clients.
The role:
- high-quality sales approach, combined with impeccable customer service that is representative of The New Craftsmen brand
- confident in engaging with new clients as well as nourishing existing relationships
- outstanding knowledge of the makers we represent – this includes their materials, their craft discipline, process and provenance
- creating ‘cheat sheets’ for showroom staff to refer to on all product, to ensure consistent product knowledge
- creating PDFs and catalogues in InDesign to send to prospective clients with the information they need on the product and orders
- working with the retail manager to ensure that all processes relating to customer service, from initial enquiry to after-sales, are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner
- maintaining the efficient tracking of all customer and showroom intelligence (areas of interest, where they heard about TNC, sales leads, order status, deliveries) with clear spreadsheets that can be used for sales, operational and marketing analysis
- creating the necessary sales collateral to enable efficient sales – price lists, POS, pricing blocks, customer PDFs
- confident use of our stock management system to process orders, POs and branch transfers
- ensuring the back-stockroom area is well maintained, tidy and is stocked with the most relevant items at any one time
- taking care and pride in the gift wrapping, packaging and organisation of client purchases and deliveries
- being involved in the set-up and installation of new exhibitions within the showroom
- delivering insight on showroom sales and customer engagement to the marketing team, working with the retail manager to contribute weekly intelligence to the marketing meeting and defining solutions to remedy immediate and long-term issues
- supporting on client engagement and event strategy for VIP clients – including event set-up, invitations, and follow-up
Skills and experience:
- knowledge and passion of craft and design
- previous sales experience within interiors
- able to work on a Saturday (with the view to not work on one business-working day)
- enthusiasm and ideas on how to improve the retail experience
- strong organisational skills and a good eye for detail
- good computer skills with command of InDesign, Google Sheets and Docs, Excel
- passionate with a strong mind-set for sales; easily building a rapport with customers
- confident and intuitive communicator
