CAD technician/draughtsman
at ME Architects
ME Architects is looking for a CAD technician/draughtsman to join its firm in Malta.
Founded in 2013, ME Architects has enjoyed considerable growth in the fields of architecture and interior design. We are a close-knit, young, international team of 15 people with a variety of experience with our architecture and design studio being located in Malta. The office portfolio boasts a wide spectrum of projects in the short time it has been operating, in both residential and commercial fields of architecture and design, ranging from bespoke house renovations and apartment blocks to hotels and high-end office spaces. We are delighted to announce we now have an exciting opportunity for a CAD technician/draughtsman to join our team in our studio.
The required individual should meet the following criteria:
- three plus years’ experience in the residential and/or commercial sector
- a relevant university degree or have a strong technical draughtsman background within the shop fitting sector or an architectural background
- an understanding of work stages of design and construction industries is advantageous
- must have excellent all-round technical knowledge and attention to detail in every aspect
- knowledge in construction methods in particular internal make up
- must be fluent in AutoCAD
- must have good organisational skills
- an ability to comply with standards and protocols
- to be well spoken with a confident phone manner when answering the telephone
- a creative flare with Photoshop, 3D modelling (SketchUp) and presentation skills is advantageous
- works well in a team environment
The candidate will:
- produce CAD drawings for the lead architect/designer on a project
- visit site to check on the progress of building works and take minutes to inform other team members for both construction and interiors being executed
- produce lighting/power drawings along with plumbing, joinery, gypsum and other trade drawings in order for a site to be rendered finished and functional. Experience in this is required
- produce final package drawings that will accompany bills of quantities, to the level of detail required for both accurate tenders and site execution
- to be able to develop the design of bespoke elements in more technical detail fit for a site or costing purposes i.e. bespoke joinery, fireplaces, and staircases. To send drawings to specialist companies and request quotations
- to co-ordinate drawings between various consultants and suppliers and other members of the team within the office
- must be competent in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for scheduling and email correspondence
Salary dependent on experience; salaries are negotiable for the right candidate. You must speak fluent English. You will be required to work 8.30AM – 5.00PM with half an hour lunch break and occasionally will be requested to work overtime to meet critical deadlines.
