Role summary

We are looking for a talented individual to join the exciting/ innovative design team at LLDC and to assist at all stages of projects connected to the Olympic Legacy from the preparation of design briefs and feasibility studies to the delivery of projects on site. The role includes providing specialist architectural and urban design advice to both internal project teams and external agencies and stakeholders. The position would suit a registered architect/urban designer with an interest in the regeneration of East London and the process of creating new, mixed used, high quality urban neighbourhoods. This is a twelve month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. We would consider a secondment from local authority and GLA family applicants.

This role will involve the proactive management of consultants and stakeholders; ensuring that allocated project budgets and programmes are managed effectively. Part of this role will be to advise the planning authority on the design of wider proposals coming forward within the LLDC area. You will also be required to provide valuable contributions to high quality reports, research, briefings and feasibility studies alongside design comments on reports prepared by others.

The person

Knowledge and experience:

  • relevant degree and/or qualification (e.g. RIBA) in architecture/urban design
  • professional experience of both architecture and urban design and a strong knowledge of master planning and housing with a diverse portfolio of projects
  • demonstrable practical experience of successfully implementing multiple, complex design projects through their complete lifecycle i.e RIBA Stages 0-7
  • good knowledge of both planning and public-sector procurement processes

Skills and abilities:

excellent free hand and computer draught/modelling skills.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; with strong relationship management, negotiation and presentation abilities

ability to read drawings/technical building information and understand their implications for a project/design and make considered recommendations

organised, self motivated problem solver and a design quality champion for the corporatio
