The role
A senior member of the design team, responsible for taking an idea from concept through to delivery, developing and realizing designs for theatrical stage sets, exhibitions, installations, VR experiences and pavilions. A motivated self-starter, who will lead the project design team and work closely with the whole studio to realise the creative vision of a project.
Main responsibilities:
- create and develop design-led responses for pitches and briefs
- lead the design process on large projects with substantial budgets, taking them from concept through to delivery
- work closely with the project director and the wider team, having an awareness for the details on all aspects of the project
- lead and inspire the team of designers, convening internal design discussions, reviews and critical feedback
- attend client-facing design meetings and deliver internal and client-facing design presentations
Person specification:
- an architect with a minimum of three years’ experience, or a stage/spatial designer with equivalent industry experience
- experience of designing temporary structures, stage design for theatrical productions or exhibition design
- be able to illustrate a true interest in narratively-led design
- expert in Rhino or other 3D modelling software, AutoCAD and Adobe Suite
- a strong communicator with both clients and team, who can convey your creative ideas with passion as well as manage expectations
- able to manage multiple projects at once, make decisions under pressure and work to deadlines
- proven ability and willingness to work as part of a broad team across different disciplines
