Tompson Design is seeking a junior architectural designer to become part of its team in Buckinghamshire, UK.
Who we are
We are a multi-disciplinary design practice with a primary focus on office fit-out and workplace design, delivering innovative and functional space solutions. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic architectural design graduate to join our small team.
Our studio, in a Grade 2 Listed building near Amersham in Bucks, has been established since 1992 and we have assembled a significant portfolio of projects and high profile clients through that period.
Our work to date includes leading edge workplaces, listed buildings refurbishment, healthcare environments, low impact multi-storey car parking, modular building and a limited amount of residential, our short-medium term goal is to expand this range.
The role
We are looking to recruit a junior designer who is an enthusiastic, creative and practically minded individual to grow within our team. You will have recently graduated in an architectural design related field and have a portfolio that demonstrates creativity, skill in different mediums and a reasonable awareness of detailing. You will support our established designers and the role is a full time employed position, subject to an initial three-month mutual satisfaction period.
The starting salary will be circa £22-k per annum, subject to skills and experience.
Skills and attributes:
- CV demonstrating enthusiastic commitment to this professional direction
- excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- CV exampling innovative interior space concepts with reasonable grasp of feasibility
- a focussed researcher, including to liaise with suppliers and organise samples
- deep interest in current and emerging trends, technologies, materials and finishes
- good basis in software skills, eg: AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Office
- good hand sketching skills
- assembly of well-presented mood boards
