HTA Design is looking for a consultation leader to join its London practice.

We are seeking a proactive, engaged and highly skilled communicator for an important new consultation leader role, based within our London design studio in Aldgate East.
HTA specialises in regeneration and residential development – many of our projects are community-led and we believe all projects benefit from a meaningful consultation and engagement process with local people. The consultation leader will work with our teams focussing on regeneration, masterplanning and new housing projects, managing the consultation and engagement process with local communities.
The primary focus is onlarge-scalee regeneration projects involving residents and local communities throughout the development process, and other projects engaging the wider community and stakeholders.
The consultation leader will work within one of four architectural teams on projects across the practice and report to a project director, who will retain overall responsibility for the project delivery and strategic relationship with the client, and the project architect day-to-day, for each project.
To be considered, the successful candidate will have:
- a degree in a subject area relevant to the role e.g. geography, english, other degrees which have developed skills as described below
- experience of resident and community consultation
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and develop strong collaborative internal and external working relationships
- good listening skills with the ability to manage challenging behaviours and situations with confidence
- an understanding of local politics and community relations
- ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to take initiative and responsibility for their own work
- a calm disposition with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time well and meet project deadlines
- effective project management and report writing skills
- strong presentation skills – clear language, no jargon
- attention to detail, accuracy and excellent proof-reading skills
- knowledge of, and the ability to use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel to communicate and present research findings
- an interest in housing, communities and working with people
Additional criteria
- ability to work flexible hours for the purpose of facilitating, managing and attending community events, some of which may take place outside London and occur during the evening and at weekends
- a full drivers licence and the ability to drive would be beneficial
