Standard Issue is searching for an architect specialising in retail/exhibition design to join its firm in New York, USA.
Standard Issue is a multi-disciplinary design firm based in Brooklyn working across architecture, interior design, industrial design and graphic design. We’re a small, dedicated group of designers who love projects that span disciplines and have us collaborating with brands, artists and makers.
We’re about to undertake an exciting project for a leading internet-based brand who is looking to expand into brick and mortar locations in New York and beyond, and we’re looking for an experienced architect with retail and branding experience to join our team.
This position is for an immediate start on a contract basis, with the possibility of extension based on the needs of the project.
You will:
- be highly creative and detail-oriented
- collaborate in the strategic and conceptual development of the project
- work with graphic designers and industrial designers to integrate their work into the architecture of the space
- participate in client meetings, site visits
- produce working drawings and renderings
- coordinate with consultants and MEP
- assist with overseeing construction and contractor coordination
Desired experience:
- at least five years’ experience in NYC
- have worked on retail and exhibition design projects
- completed at least three retail projects
- have experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
- experience from SD-CD phase, and some CA experience ideal
- proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Suite
- excellent communication skills and a team-player mentality
