White Arkitekter, Scandinavia’s leading Architectural practice, is looking for a technical director to join its growing design team in London.

The London studio has been open for five years and in that time has developed award-winning projects with a focus on urban design, landscape and residential architecture.
We are seeking a technical director to lead on the delivery of projects in the UK from RIBA stage four onwards and become part of the senior leadership team in our close-knit London studio.
The technical director at White Arkitekter plays an important role in the delivery of design. It is important that they become well versed in the White Arkitekter’s design culture, BIM procedures, specifications, production and construction administration standards, contracts and project management standards.
The technical director will be responsible for guidance and development of staff members, as well as the proper deployment of staff to ensure the make-up of each project team suits each individual project’s specific needs and requirements.
Responsibilities:
- form part of the team delivering stage four design drawings and specifications
- responsible for project coordination ensuring client and statutory requirements are met
- pushing best practice in sustainable design
- writing/overseeing the production of specifications
- improve the quality of our deliverables and reduce risk
- improve the efficiency of our document production effort
- enhance design through strong technical support
- establish a leadership position and role model for technically oriented staff
- ensure delivery of design packages through RIBA stages four to six
Requirements:
- RIBA Part 3 qualified or equivalent with over 10 years’ of experience post Part 3, at least five of which should be in the UK
- advanced knowledge of UK building regulations, British standards and local authority standards
- advanced knowledge and experience of UK-based residential stages four to six is essential
- advanced Revit knowledge is essential (min. BIM level 2) and skills in AutoCAD, Rhino and Adobe packages are advantageous
- high level technical skills and experience in construction document (drawing and specification) preparation
- experience in full cycle construction administration on multiple projects
- expert knowledge of industry standards & resources
- excellent design skills with experience of enhancing design through technical innovation and processes
- a strong management sensibility to allow for efficient and systematic incorporation of the quality assurance program into the project process
- you are an educator capable of investing personal time to mentor junior technical staff
- demonstrated expertise in sustainable building practices and/or office leadership in sustainable building practices experience preferred
- ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with the design team, contractors and other consultants and to lead and coach junior members of the team.
- friendly and creative attitude and open-minded approach to working methods
- ARB registration is required
- eligible to work in the UK
- proven experience managing UK building contracts and appointment contracts
- well-established connections in the construction industry, especially the main house builders, is an advantage
