Heatherwick Studio is seeking a studio experience manager to join its team in London.
The studio is seeking an experienced studio experience manager who will lead the creation and maintenance of a unique Heatherwick experience for all who visit the studio, whether studio members, clients or other visitors. The role will also lead the management of events for the studio. The candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be extremely well organised, possess creativity, ingenuity and resilience, and have experience of leading events and experiences in buildings or organisations of a similar size.
Job purpose
To create a vision for the experience in the studio for studio members and visitors, and to successfully deliver that vision to reality. To create an atmosphere where studio members are passionate about being part of the Heatherwick community. To ensure that clients enjoy a memorable experience and are eager to visit us again and again. To lead and manage an engaged and motivated studio experience team.
Key responsibilities:
- create and deliver studio experience vision and plan: understand the studio’s vision and culture by building excellent relationships and having effective communication with various studio members at various levels. Based on previous experience and an understanding of the studio, create a vision for studio experience, tailored towards the studio’s potential new home in King’s Cross. Deliver on that vision and plan to ensure that the studio excels at the experience it creates for all staff and visitors
- leadership of studio housekeeping and reception: lead and manage the team to ensure the studio is always looking its best in terms of desk set up, meeting room set up, collection displays and plant displays. Ensure that the flow of movement in the building works for the various different types of user, whether they are designer staff or clients, deliveries or workshop users, archive staff or guests. Lead the service provided at the reception area to ensure a warm, welcoming and positive first impression by all visitors. Ensure the desk booking process effectively supports agile working at the studio
- events management: lead the creation and successful delivery of events at the studio, including client lunches and dinners, staff events such as Christmas and summer parties, charity events and guest speaker talks. Ensure that the catering offering and spaces are delivered to excellent standards, creating a unique Heatherwick experience. Liaison with the IT team to ensure smooth delivery of digital presentations.
- team leadership: be an inspirational leader, role model, mentor and coach to the studio experience team, supporting their continuous professional development. Ensure the team structure and skills are appropriate to support the studio’s current and future plans. Lead regular team meetings, and enable team training and workshops to develop and bond the team, creating a high performing, engaged team and collaborative culture
- studio leadership: communicate the studio experience vision, updates and issues clearly and concisely to senior management, to assist and influence decision making. Is able to communicate well considered solutions and ideas and bring them to life with a honed, authentic communication style that builds longstanding relationships internally and externally
- budget and supplier management: responsible for the studio experience budget by participating in the twice yearly budget and forecast process to map out expected costs of the studio experience function, and managing the delivery within the approved budget. Select and manage suppliers to deliver in accordance with the expected standards of the studio

Qualifications, experience and skills
- first aid qualifications (preferred)
- leading visitor or customer experience in a similar sized organisation or building

Contract type
This is a permanent, full time role, based primarily in the studio premises in King’s Cross, London. Flexibility in working hours is required where events may take place in the evening.
Training and continuing professional development
The studio aims to attract and develop the best talent and create a supportive environment in which studio members can learn and develop. Training is provided to increase technical skills and to address identified professional development needs.
