Finance analyst
at Heatherwick Studio
Heatherwick Studio is seeking a finance analyst to join its team in London.
To ensure the studio is supported in financial decision making to achieve target profitability levels, through regular, timely and insightful financial analysis. In particular to produce financial analysis and forecasting of the resourcing and profitability of the design projects and departments of the studio, working closely with the Finance team, Commercial team, Project Managers, Department Heads and the People team.
Reporting and financial analysis:
- produce reports for heads of department for departmental spend vs budget with variance analysis on a monthly basis
- produce reports for project managers on project spend v target on a monthly basis
- support the commercial finance manager with regular updates of financial forecasts
- produce and maintain reconciliations of project financials to monthly management accounts
- support the commercial finance manager with half year budgeting process, this includes but is not limited to helping to consolidate all the departments budgets, providing analysis as required and to assist with production of final budget pack
- support the commercial finance manager with annual R&D corporation tax reclaim
Project resource planning:
- provide financial analysis for proposed staff plans for design projects
- ensure the project management system is updated with the initial approved resource plans and then ensuring that the project management system is maintained for any subsequent approved changes to plans
- reconciliation of monthly project reports to approved resource plans in project management system, ensuring any issues are highlighted to commercial finance manager on a timely basis.
- produce financial analysis for any projects resource change requests
Finance improvement projects:
- implement improvements in the finance system and processes, resulting in a reduction in the time taken to process data and produce insightful management reports
- support the commercial finance manager in the implementation of a new project management system to the studio and any required reconciliation to other systems in use
- liaise with our project management system provider to correct any issues or make any necessary improvements
- act as support for the studio users of the project management system for assisting with any issues or queries they have
Other tasks:
- assist commercial finance manager with ad hoc analysis as required
- oversee and review of the accurate completion of timesheets
- assist with R&D schedules and calculations as part of the R&D claim for the UK tax corporation submission
- ensure the shared information between the project management system, Sage 200 and the purchase order system are accurate
This role needs to develop and maintain positive and professional relationship across the whole studio. The key relationships in this role are:

Qualifications:
professional accountancy part-qualified, CIMA or ACCA
Experience:
- experience in producing insightful financial reporting and analysis
- experience in producing financial information in simple, digestible summaries for management
- experience in improving systems and controls by automating and streamlining processes
- experience of change management, and the ability to introduce positive change
- experience of Sage 200 desirable but not essential
- experience of project management systems desirable but not essential
- experience of Power BI desirable but not essential
