DIALOG is hiring a marketing and business development manager to join its team in Vancouver, Canada.

DIALOG seeks a motivated, proactive, and highly collaborative marketing and business development manager to join our talented marketing and communications team. Working directly with partners and key practice leadership, you will be primarily responsible for directing our Vancouver studio’s marketing initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to lead the strategy and plans for one sector on behalf of our entire practice (all studios). Depending on your expertise, this practice-wide marketing leadership could focus on post-secondary education, transit, civic and government or commercial/developer sectors. The scope of this practice-wide component of your role will be created with you – upon the start of your role at DIALOG.

Focused on design excellence opportunities and relying on your existing strong network, the Vancouver marketing and business development manager will establish a cohesive strategy for growth and leads in the form of a yearly marketing plan and on a weekly basis, deliver sound go/no go recommendations.

You will direct all aspects of the Vancouver studio’s marketing efforts including strategy, teaming, proposal oversight (with a team of coordinators), presentations, awards and other paths to increase market share and visibility. You will coordinate frequently with marketing managers across the practice as well as the director and assistant director of marketing, the digital editor and the internal communications manager.

The role requires fostering and nurturing relationships with potential clients and collaborators, attending key industry and networking events on behalf of the Vancouver studio and your practice-wide sector, researching leads and new markets, and overseeing the highest quality proposals and bids. The Vancouver marketing and business development manager will also help to identify and manage relevant events, speaking engagements, and press opportunities that can expand the visibility and network of our partners and senior team members.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, flexible professional with significant experience within a design practice in Vancouver. They will leverage their network to help bring DIALOG to new levels of prominence.

How you’ll make a difference

DIALOG’s responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients and collaborators in Canada and beyond
  • proactively seek out new business opportunities through networking, market research, attendance at key industry events, and strategic alliances
  • work with partners and DIALOG’s director and assistant director of marketing to develop a strategy and plan for growth
  • build visibility for leadership by identifying speaking engagements, networking opportunities, and industry events that attract potential clients and industry collaborators
  • regularly report on leads, new business opportunities, and corresponding success rates as well as use the upcoming CRM tool to track and report on activity
  • conduct market research and make sound go/no go recommendations
  • mentor, direct and inspire the Vancouver marketing team members to strategize, write and produce proposals, portfolios, presentations, and other marketing collateral

Who you are

Requirements:

  • five to ten years’ of A/E industry experience in similar role
  • established network across Canada with a track record of generating opportunities for design-led architecture firms
  • knowledge of industry trends and markets in Canada
  • ability to perform multiple marketing efforts in the context of rapid and frequent deadlines
  • learn and understand DIALOG’s portfolio of work, practice areas, and capabilities
  • oversee the maintenance of marketing collateral, resources, and information systems
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • exceptional interpersonal skills
  • mastery of basic InDesign functions is a must with familiarity of Adobe Creative Suite
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required
