Sterling Studios is hiring a production manager to join its team in London.

We are a specialist decorative arts company which offers clients an extensive collection of exquisite bespoke finishes all hand crafted in our workshop in west London. We are looking for a production manager to plan and supervise the day to day running of the studio production schedule, ensuring that production is safe and within time and budget requirements.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • planning and organising production schedules for production in our studio and site work
  • assessing and scheduling use of resources (machinery, space and staff/subcontractors)
  • managing PPE and ensuring that health and safety regulations are met in the workshop
  • coordinating with the studio manager and sales and projects team to maintain quality standards
  • monitoring and informing the team of the progress, status and requirements of all projects on a daily basis
  • liaising with the studio manager and sales & projects team to ensure projected labour/skill requirements are met and booking in sub-contractors when required
  • keeping schedules and recording progress of ongoing workshop improvements, and related administration
  • planning and organising scheduling, purchasing, materials and other requirements for exhibitions and trade shows
  • purchasing materials where necessary (liaising with the office manager)
  • planning and recording implementation of improvements, repairs and general maintenance in the studio
  • maintain housekeeping programme to ensure team are working in an efficient, tidy and safe environment
  • planning and recording training of workshop staff
  • writing up and submitting risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for site work

Skills:

  • strong communication and organisational skills
  • teamworking skills
  • demonstrable planning skills
  • some knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to learn decorative art processes quickly
  • highly proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Excel)
  • strong numeracy skills (including general maths and calculations)
  • the ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years supervisory/managerial experience in a similar role.
