Yorkshire, UK
Landscape architect and architectural assistant
at Xanthe Quayle Landscape Architects

Xanthe Quayle Landscape Architects is seeking a landscape architect and architectural assistant to join its team in Yorkshire, UK.

Xanthe Quayle Landscape Architects (XQLA), formerly Camlin Lonsdale, is an award-winning independent design practice with a distinctive and holistic approach. Work of an exclusively high quality and demanding nature is undertaken across the UK. We are looking for creative individuals to join our friendly team in the Pennines, West Yorkshire and would love to hear from you! We can offer a great life-work balance working in a thriving Pennine village with good links to Manchester and Leeds, as well as a competitive salary package.

At XQLA we understand the potential of our work to contribute to the well-being of people, their communities and the host environment; the virtuous circles we can nurture within them, and the natural world more broadly. The delivery of sustainable and unique places are prerequisites to this wider aspiration. This demands us to push at the boundaries of our discipline and to explore creative solutions, alongside our built environment counterparts, to what can often appear to be intractable or overwhelming challenges. To achieve these wider social and environmental aspirations we seek to appoint people who are passionate about landscape architecture with excellent technical skills, but who are also good communicators and independent thinkers.

This is an unusual opportunity for two new members to join the team at senior and postgraduate levels to influence the future of the Practice for the long term.

  • masters or equivalent in landscape architecture
  • CMLI plus three to five years’ experience
  • a strong understanding and level of experience across the discipline, from masterplanning through to detailed design and implementation

  • adaptable, friendly person who is capable of leading projects as well as inputting on others
  • experience in networking and business development (preferable but not necessary)
  • proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, CAD/Vectorworks and SketchUp
