About us
Sogni di Cristallo is a leading Italian agency of light fitting designers, manufacturers and glass master makers based in Venice, Italy. SDC guarantees a strong connection between the master glassmakers of Venice and designers from around the world. We work with architects, interior designers and private clients to deliver important B2B contract projects for commercial buildings, restaurants, hotels and custom-made projects worldwide. SDC is expanding its business and is seeking to open a company branch in London.
Role
SDC is looking for both freelance and part-time product designer to work on a diverse range of projects in the UK and USA.
You’ll be involved in the early concept stages of a brief, right through to delivery of detailed designs, specifications, prototypes and products.
You’ll be working within our Italian and UK-based team and will be collaborating with clients from all over the world.
Responsibilities:
- light fitting product design – creating concepts, prototypes and detailed designs
- preparing 3D models and shopping drawings for client approval
- supplying documentation and detailed files for mock up production
- conducting material, cultural, and design process research
- creating production and assembly instructions drawings
Requirements:
- proven work experience as an product designer or similar role
- freelance
- excellent communication skills
- fluent in 2D and 3D CAD design tools – AutoCAD or Rhino experience preferred
- strong sketching and illustration skills
- advanced knowledge of Excel (to generate project trackers) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, In-design, Photoshop)
- understanding of manufacturing methods, processes, materials
- passionate about solving problems and identifying opportunities to make things better for people
- happy to work collaboratively within a team and take sole ownership of a given task to drive projects forward
- excellent organizational and time management abilities
- preferably English/Italian speaker
- London based
