Senior design project manager
Suna Interior Design is looking for a senior design project manager to join its London team.
Suna Interior Design is an award-winning London-based boutique interior design consultancy providing interior services for property developers and the hospitality industry. Helen Fewster and Rebecca Tucker head up the London-based studio ensuring that a high level of attention is dedicated to each client and project.
Currently seeking a senior design project manager with experience in show home design to work for a variety of developers internationally. A fantastic opportunity to work in a vibrant office on exciting projects with a key responsibility to develop our CGI service. The successful candidate will work from our London SW19 office.
Responsibilities:
Client liaison and briefing
- responsible for client engagement and business development with regards to understanding initial project requirements, timings and costings related to show home design
- developing initial ideas and acquiring key information about potential projects, discussing requirements in detail with clients and setting project schedules
Project management
- develop project schedules to be agreed by internal stakeholders, management and clients for delivery including detailed plans of each aspect of design, through to rollout and implementation
- capable of managing multiple projects at one time
- able to coordinate multiple clients and delegate and oversee tasks to team members throughout each stage of the design and installation process, ensuring efficient and effective project delivery
- demonstrates a highly organised and systematic approach to producing a project
Resource investigating and liaison
- liaise with product vendors and service suppliers to specify optimal products and materials and agree pricing and budgets which are tailored to the needs of the client/project e.g. fittings, furniture, finishes, decoration and dressing
- responsible for constantly seeking out new vendors and service providers to improve the quality of service and breadth of offering to new and existing clients
- responsible for information gathering to generate design insight which specifically supports project specifications e.g. demographic research of target purchase audience
Budget, quality and time management
- responsible for quality assurance aspects of each project including pre and post implementation meetings with clients
- oversee and manage lead times and delivery schedules to ensure all design products are on-site on-time, on-budget and to the right quality
- responsible for conducting site-quality inspections during installation and at the conclusion of a project, including responding to any grievances expressed by the client in a timely and efficient manner
- required to develop internal policy and procedures based on experience, project outcomes and industry/regulatory requirements
- creative and strategic problem solver: weighs options then plans strategy for execution with pre-determined fall back options to ensure quality standards are adhered to at all times
- producing comprehensive mood boards for presentation to clients in the agreed format for the company
- demonstrates a high degree of time management skill and constantly seeks to streamline processes and procedures to increase quality and efficiency
- can be depended on to deliver a quality product that meets or exceeds Suna’s and client goals for success
Communication and project reporting
- conduct proposal discussions with clients at the outset of an engagement to outline firm vision and design principles for project
- liaise with lead project management on client side to update on progress, agree next steps, provide approvals and discuss roadblocks as they relate to project
- partner with design team and operations team to ensure all parties are clear on project progress, quality requirements and timing
- projects self-confidence to others and is comfortable speaking and presenting in a group setting in a convincing, articulate and polished manner that reflects expertise and industry knowledge
Business development
- drive international expansion program through partnership and collaboration with Lead CGI Designer, ensuring quality and creative standards are adhered to
- ensure firm is aware of and understands new trends and developments taking place within the design industry e.g. digitisation of design experience, to ensure a compelling value proposition versus competitors
- demonstrates strong business acumen with regards to design taking into consideration dual interests of the firm and the client, delivering to the expectations of both parties accordingly
- shares Suna’s vision and core values for growth and excellence
Team management
- candidate must be highly skilled in the software programmes we use e.g.CAD/PSD/INDESIGN/ ESTIPC, and able to train new members of staff and provide assistance to junior designers
- supervising work at the design stage and on site
- oversee team of other designers
Required key skills:
- a sound understanding of quality design standards with regards to spatial planning, high spec finishes and styling
- international experience is preferable
- three years’ experience preferred working within design
- four years’ experience preferred working within a B2B interior design environment
- four years’ experience preferred working within CGI for interior design industry
- four years’ experience preferred working within international interior design
- experience using EstiPC or EstiMac essential
- CSCS card essential
- full, clean, UK driving licence essential
- six years’ experience preferred using InDesign, Photoshop, Auto Cad & Illustrator and Microsoft Office Suite within a professional environment
- bachelor of arts degree in design
- experience in establishing relationships within the UK housing developers industry
- comprehensive knowledge of UK housing developers
- an eye for design and colour, with good 3D and spatial awareness
- comprehensive knowledge of UK suppliers furniture, fabric and wallpaper
- the ability to visualise concepts and explain them to others
- strong organisational skills, to ensure each project is completed on time and to budget
- strong communication skills, both written and verbal to present and sell the designs, promote and explain ideas, and build relationships with clients
- project management skills, including ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and to oversee team projects
- ability to work effectively as part of a team, on multiple projects
Salary: circa £32,000-£36,000 per anum
