Junior architecture and engineering project manager

Weston Williamson + Partners are hiring two junior architecture and engineering project managers to join its team in London.

Our specialist knowledge and design experience built up over our 30+ years history, enables us to provide elegant and considered solutions to often challenging projects.
We have an extensive portfolio of clients in the UK including Crossrail, Transport for London, Network Rail, Southwark Council, Croydon Council, HS2 and many others, whilst working for Contractors such as Costain, Skanska, Balfour Beatty, Mace, Morgan Sindall, and Multi-Disciplinary Consultants such as Mott MacDonald, Arup, WSP, and Aecom. We have developed and delivered over 30 stations in London and others around the world. Many of these incorporate major development opportunities in and around the stations.
We have an experienced, creative, and knowledgeable team and are an inclusive, friendly studio. We also organise a variety of social activities which include an active photography group, a keen group of cyclists, a football and softball team and other sporting events throughout the year.
The role will generally include:
- using project management software to both monitor and regularly produce detailed reports of each of our projects
- assisting in production of tender documents and fee proposals
- assisting in production and updating the design programme
- monitoring and mobilising resources, including management of resources against project programmes/fees
- producing assurance documentation, competency forms, project execution plans, etc.
- attending project review meetings and taking notes of any issues arising
- managing scope change, including producing quotations, revising programmes, identifying affected deliverables, and coordinating between disciplines
- organise internal review meetings
- keeping up-to-date and preparing monthly applications for payments
- liaising and coordinating with sub-consultants for their design and commercial input
- document control – issue and receipt of documentation between contractor, client and sub-consultants
This role would ideally be suited to graduates with a relevant degree and zero to three years’ work experience. The candidates will be considered to have good communication skills both written and verbal whilst numeracy skills are essential. Above all, the candidates will have enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
The candidates will work within the project management team in London, reporting directly to our project manager and project directors. They will be involved in managing our array of projects; gaining exposure to day-to-day project, design and commercial management issues.
The candidates will be introduced to a varied selection of projects ranging in complexity. This includes contractual compliance, design and construction programming, risk management, commercial change control including financial reporting and final accounts.
The candidates will also get an opportunity to work with other business teams to get an understanding in what makes a thriving business successful. This includes opportunities to work alongside the office management team which includes the account management, business development and marketing teams. The candidates would be expected to take initiative and gain further responsibilities in the practice as their experience increases. Relevant further training and mentoring will be provided.
The positions will be based in our studio in Waterloo, Central London however may be required to attend meetings at our various client offices around London and all candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
