New business manager

Heatherwick Studio is hiring a new business manager to join its team in London.
The new business team is seeking an experienced new business manager for maternity cover to lead our efforts primarily in Europe and the Americas. Reporting directly to the head of new business, this role requires an understanding of the regions and a strong instinct for prospects that will help to grow the studio’s portfolio of extraordinary projects.
Key responsibilities
New opportunities:
- track, review, research, evaluate and make clear recommendations of new business opportunities
- provide internal briefings on potential opportunities to help determine go/no go decisions
- prepare presentations that clearly summarise opportunities and new business prospects and updates
- nurture external potential new business relationships
- translate client material to assist with internal stakeholder understanding
New business strategy:
- proactively seek out new business opportunities within the Europe and Americas regions
- confidently host important client and stakeholder meetings and visits
- monitor, analyse and report on key markets in the region on an on-going basis
- gather industry intelligence and identify potential new business leads
- inform and grow the studio’s new business strategy, network and approach in the regions
Submissions and bid documents:
- lead the co-ordination of engaging, high-quality new business submissions, bid documents and presentations in collaboration with various studio team stakeholders
- write, proofread and edit texts
- support the laying-out of graphic and written content for submissions and presentations in accordance with the studio’s graphic identity
- prepare and co-ordinate fee forecasts and proposals, through co-ordination with all relevant stakeholders
Day to day:
- maintain internal databases of contact details, project information and studio information
- organise and present data, through charts, graphs, or written reports, as required
- record and log meetings as appropriate
- lead and support internal new business team initiatives to improve processes and approach
- provide support to other departments in the studio to ensure a cohesive marketing and commercial strategy for the region
Relationships
This role needs to develop and maintain positive and professional relationship across the whole studio, as well as with external clients and stakeholders.
The key relationships in this role are:
- business and contracts team
- founder and group leaders
- new project bid teams, including project leaders, project managers and technical design leads
- communications
- finance
- external clients and consultants
Skills and experience:
- minimum three years’ comparable experience
- demonstrable track record in successfully pursuing opportunities and winning bids
- keen interest in design, architecture, business, marketing, research, and communication together with a relevant qualification
- demonstrable experience of creating engaging written and graphic content for bids
- clear and effective communication skills; written and verbal
- multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- driven and confident to pursue opportunities
- excellent planning and organisational skills
- ability to work as part of a team
- familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- fluent in English
