The role at a glance

NBBJ is looking for a project BIM leader to bolster our London studio.

The successful candidate will understand the importance of Building Information Modelling (BIM) management, possessing strong technical and interpersonal skills to support project teams in the studio. With the ability to work within multiple platforms and a strong understanding of the holistic approach to design, we are looking for this person to make a significant impact in leading teams through the effective delivery of projects. As a leader within the studio, this individual will be a primary contact on projects, representing the firm externally and demonstrating our ability to lead clients and project teams through the BIM process.

As well as being a champion for BIM in the studio, this person will work closely with our studio BIM leader, providing project support across the studio and contribute to the continued advancements in our methodologies, standards and best practices. This position offers extensive opportunities to grow within the firm and exposure to an innovative, fast-paced collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

Management:

    • support the advancement of BIM and associated technologies within the studio, including participation in studio initiatives
    • support the studio BIM leader and project managers in the review of BIM-centric contracts and scope of services
    • lead the development of the project BIM execution plan in collaboration with design team stakeholders
    • execute the digital management toolkit, including project
    • execution planning, digital charrettes and model reviews
    • provide support for technical, workflow and/or application queries to project teams within the studio
    • lead, support and guide team members through the implementation of agreed project protocols, including BIM workflows and model management activities
    • lead design teams in the implementation of project protocols, including model organisation, coordination, archive and compliance
    • support project managers in the management of tasks within the BIM environment
    • support the Studio BIM Leader in identifying any training and education needs
    • provide onboarding for new project team members

 Production:

      • lead the creation of project models and content in line with firm wide standards
      • lead the methodology and support teams in the production and delivery of drawings, documentation and data from the models

Required skills and qualifications:

  • minimum five years’ of architecture experience
  • bachelors of architecture, building information modelling, architectural technologist or equivalent
  • proven experience delivering projects of various scale and complexity using Revit
  • advanced/expert level knowledge of Autodesk’s Revit architecture
  • enjoy working in a collaborative team environment
  • proven experience in project coordination including collaboration with team members and external consultants, using industry renowned software platforms
  • ability to identify and communicate areas where skills, tools and processes could be improved
  • passion for sharing knowledge and a demonstrated ability for clearly communicating complex technical ideas to designers, managers and clients
  • ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Additional skills and qualifications:

  • licensure (architect)
  • masters of architecture, building information modelling management or equivalent
  • Autodesk certified professional in Revit
  • experience and passion for ‘computational BIM’ through using Dynamo or other scripting and programming languages
  • workflow knowledge in associated Autodesk products including  Navisworks, 3DS Max, BIM360, AutoCAD etc.
  • experience with Rhino and Grasshopper
