Intermediate FF&E designer
at Nicemakers
Nicemakers is seeking an intermediate FF&E designer to join its team in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Our full time FF&E designer based in or around Amsterdam is responsible for all aspects of the FF&E design process within Nicemakers. You work under the direction of the creative directors and head of design to create exceptional concepts and designs that inspire.
We expect a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently to handle high volumes of work in tight deadlines, while being organized throughout several projects simultaneously.
You will be working within a small team, in an office where no day is the same and everyone is a part of contributing to the work as well as to the atmosphere of the team.
We are looking for someone already based in Amsterdam who would like to join a number of new, exciting projects starting.
Excellent Vectorworks skills is a must and Dutch speaking is preferable for this job opportunity.
Role description:
- strong knowledge and awareness of suppliers, most recent industry developments, fairs, trends and products for continued professional development
- build strong, lasting relationships with 3rd parties with a curious, enquiring eye and social personality; suppliers, external product designers, shop-fitters, drafting agencies and visualisers
- ability to produce presentations in a variety of styles to suit individual briefs
- ability to quickly visualise design concepts; from sketches, verbal and written direction and easily make them look presentable
- preparation of professional concepts for clients such as mood boards, preliminary and final designs, and development of details, furniture, fixtures and lighting layouts
- attend and review site installation and style at the very final stage of a project, in collaboration with the creative directors (depending on project requirements)
- ability to specify and organize finishes, FF&E and lighting schedules
- must be able to combine creative ideas with technical requirements to resolve design detailing
- extensive knowledge of interior project timelines, construction and products lead times
- strong ability to produce detailed and accurate FF&E and joinery drawing packages including plans, sections, elevations, and details
- ability to confidently represent the company externally and contribute to Nicemaker’s professional reputation and high level of attention to detail
Qualification and skills:
- bachelor’s degree of interior design
- minimum of four year’s work experience is a must
- experience in the hospitality design sector, specifically in large scale hotel design and high end residential
- strong experienced in custom furniture design
- excellent 2D drawing skills (Vectorworks)
- excellent digital skills to produce presentations (Adobe CS knowledge, particularly InDesign and Photoshop)
- 3D skills (Vectorworks/SketchUp/hand sketches), to be able to study spatial design, FF&E design and create 3D artist impressions
- excellent Microsoft Office skills to be able to set up and maintain schedules and specifications sheets
- preferably Dutch-speaking and fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
- knowledge of Dutch supplier market
- EU citizen or appropriate working permit essential
