Makower Architects is hiring a bid coordinator to join its team in London.

Makower Architects is seeking a bid coordinator to join our team of architects and urban designers. We are based in a well-located London studio and are also integrating flexible remote working in our teams. Makower Architects are a culturally rooted international practice specialising in architecture and urbanism, with numerous high-profile projects in the fields of city-making, place-creation and urban heritage.  We love cities and we also love how graphics play a big part in our urban experience.

Candidates must have four to six years’ of experience assembling and coordinating tenders in a professional design environment.

Applicants must demonstrate exceptional organisational skills, a knowledge of the industry, knowledge of where to seek tender opportunities, strong design skills, excellent document layout and publication management experience plus an interest and aptitude for marketing and social media. An ability to work on tight deadlines and directly to practice directors is essential.

The ideal candidate will have strong desk top publishing (DTP) skills, document design ability and knowledge of print management/publishing of in-house documents. As well as tender documents, the ideal candidate will also have an interest and ability to support our team on the preparation of in-house marketing material, presentation graphics, practice brochures, website content as well as in supporting our architect teams on the graphics of project documents, project visuals and infographics.

The right candidate must meet the following primary criteria:

  • experience preparing and coordinating bid submissions
  • thorough knowledge of the bid tender process and all its components
  • be able to find, identify and filter tender opportunities for architects and urban designers
  • be able to coordinate and produce multiple bid documents at any one time
  • be able to coordinate internal and external consultants inputs into a tender submission, all while working to a deadline
  • good spoken and written English is essential, with an ability to copy edit texts from multiple authors
  • having an interest and passion for Architecture writing and communication
  • have in depth knowledge of desk top publishing including designing templates for others to use, typography, page layout, colour design well as print management
  • possess strong organisational skills and ability to time manage
  • must demonstrate a strong visual sense
  • must demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the wider architecture, urban design, development and construction sectors
  • have worked in a professional design environment. Ideally Architecture or the built environment, but this is not essential
  • holding a professional graphic design qualification or demonstration of a suitable apprenticeship by way of equivalent would be a benefit
  • holding a professional marketing qualification would be a benefit
  • demonstrate experience of having maintained and managed a library of tools for tender submission: e.g. project sheets, CVs, other bid document and marketing collateral
  • have a strong knowledge of graphic design references for use in project design storyboards
  • have an advanced knowledge of Adobe suit software, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and other necessary digital tools
  • must have experience of working in a team and ideally directly to practice directors
  • must have experience in coordinating bid documents, with multiple external parties. Ideally within an architectural, construction or design environment
  • ideally, have experience of running social media accounts for professional organisations and maintaining a website up to date with the most recent project information
  • you will need to be a highly organised, self-motivated team-worker with strong time management skills and an exceptional eye for detail
  • ideally but not essential, interest and aptitude for being part of programming PR related/cultural events such as parties, debates, lectures, exhibitions etc.
