Adam Khan Architects is seeking a communications manager to join its team in London.
Adam Khan Architects is an innovative design practice, engaged in cultural and social projects at all scales. We are based in Hackney with a European outlook and portfolio.
We are recruiting for a communications manager, to lead our outward facing communications. This is a new role, at an exciting time for the practice, with the recent and upcoming completion of a number of key projects. The role will become an integral part of the practice, helping to nurture and articulate a holistic voice and discourse.
The role is focussed on the production of two new publications. A curatorial approach to new unpublished works and a deep dive into the practice’s archive will set the basis for a radical approach to publication and a coherent strategy across the studio.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in Architecture, experience of delivering innovative and compelling publications, as well as a proven ability in developing and implementing communication strategies.
This is a part-time role (two to three days per week) reporting directly to the director Adam Khan and supported by a team of 12 architects and assistants and a studio manager. We are open to discussion on refining the scope to suit a candidates interests and experience, including a potential PA role to the director.
The role will involve:
Projects:
- drafting communication strategies in liaison with collaborating practices
- drafting documentary briefs – photography, film, interviews
Publications:
- overseeing the production of publications, including management of contributors, designers, publishers
Press:
- liaison with collaborating practices
- writing of press releases
- organising photoshoots
Exhibitions:
- organising exhibitions of AKA work
Talks:
- organising talks and lectures, in liaison with Adam Khan, including diary management
- organising talks or liaising with external organisations for AKA involvement in programmes
Website:
- overseeing the management of the website
Social Media:
- regular posting through our social media channels, in line with wider communication strategies.
Studio:
- overseeing the management of the practice image library
Skill and experience:
- excellent writing and graphic skills
- ability to prioritise, work under pressure to meet deadlines
- ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- self-motivated and dedicated to delivering high-quality creative programmes
- highly personable, with the ability to create and maintain creative relationships with colleagues and clients
- proficiency in Adobe InDesign, MS Powerpoint
