Interior designer
at Common Bond Design

Common Bond Design is hiring an interior designer to join its team in New York.

We are seeking an interior designer with five years’ of experience. Ideal candidates will have a background in residential and commercial design, including hospitality. Our team works on diverse project types with an emphasis on historic buildings.

We are looking for enthusiasm for contributing to all aspects of the work – specifically the ability to translate ideas into compelling design elements and execute them in collaboration with clients, craftspeople, and team members.

Base qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture
  • excellent design and technical skills
  • fluency in drafting/rendering programs, including 3D renderings (Revit, SketchUp, InDesign, AutoCAD, Vectorworks etc.)
  • strong written and visual communication skills
  • ability to work a full 8 hour schedule daily within the hours of 8am to 6pm ET. (hours include remote work, project site visits and office time)
  • ability to independently manage priorities and workflow, while seeking input as needed
  • ability to travel, including overnight trips

Desired qualifications:

  • NCIDQ certification holder
  • sustainable design credential(s) such as LEED, WELL, LFA
  • knowledge of health, safety, and accessibility codes
  • familiarity with the secretary of interior’s standards for the treatment of historic properties

Responsibilities:

  • project management and client management – translating communication with clients in to deliverables
  • contribute to collaborative and conceptual framework for projects
  • create compelling and informative presentations
  • present designs to clients
  • research and specify materials appropriate for project
  • develop and manage space plans and client programs
  • produce construction documents and detailed drawings
  • collaborate with vendors, craftspeople, artists and consultants to integrate their work / products into the design
  • create and manage furniture plans, specifications and bid documents
  • assist with photoshoots
  • share project photos and relevant content on social media
