Project architect

Spacelab is looking for a talented project architect to join its team in London.

Spacelab; an award-winning architecture and design practice, are seeking an experienced project architect to join us on a full time, permanent basis, to work on a range of varied and exciting projects. The successful applicant will join of a team of collaborative architects and interior designers, so will enjoy a wide-ranging scope of work.

We collect and use data to analyse and re-imagine how we can create spaces that are more effective, and can benefit the people that use them.

Specifically, the role will include:

  • taking projects through construction and technical stages to completion- varying in size up to £15million
  • to produce NBS specifications and schedules
  • the overseeing of production information and drawing packages relating to assigned project/s
  • liaising with consultants and coordinating full design packages
  • working with, managing, coaching, and developing junior members of the team, sharing and delegating the workload, and providing support
  • providing technical support to wider team
  • overseeing the site deliverance to completion
  • participation in internal and external meetings related to project/s
  • periodically coordinate/report to the management team on project progress
  • working alongside internal/external 3D renderers to realise design concepts

Preferred qualifications, skills and attitudes:

  • architecture degree – UK equivalent 3+2 years degree
  • a minimum of five years’ post Part-II professional experience
  • strong technical detailing and design coordination
  • ability to demonstrate experience of taking projects from concept to completion
  • good time management skills to meet multiple deadlines
  • experience of FF&E selection, coordination and scheduling
  • experience coordinating design with other consultants
  • confident client handling and presentation skills
  • experience in construction and bespoke detailing
  • fluent in English – verbal and written
  • proficient using Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • experience of BIM/Revit is advantageous
  • knowledge of planning approval process
  • a working knowledge of UK building systems, regulations and construction methods
