Masterplanner/urban designer
at AR Urbanism
AR Urbanism is seeking a senior/associate-level urban designer to join its office in Shoreditch, London.
Essential requirements:
- degree and background in architecture
- MA/MSc in urban design or equivalent experience
- at least five years’ experience with masterplanning, urban design strategies and design codes
- excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- excellent writing skills (English)
- experience in managing teams of subconsultants and project partners
- experience in undertaking stakeholder engagement and consultation
- knowledge of the UK planning system
- understanding of RIBA work stages
- client-facing experience
Nice to have:
- recognised practitioner in urban design (UDG)
- experience with client pitches and presentations
- ability to deliver all stages of a project independently
- project financial awareness
Responsibilities:
- developing design solutions for urban design and masterplanning projects
- project manage urban design projects from inception to completion
- lead the preparation of urban design analysis, concept and masterplans, design guidance, design briefs, design codes, urban characterisation studies, capacity and feasibility studies and similar work
- liaising and engaging with clients, stakeholders and other project team members to successfully deliver projects
- helping mentor and develop the skills of junior staff members
