Interior architect/designer
at Claudio Modola Design
Claudio Modola Design is seeking a European or UK-based interior architect/designer to join its team on a full-time, remote working basis.
Claudio Modola Design is an Italian-founded, small, award-winning architectural and interior design studio now based in the UAE. We are focused on delivering high-end residential and smaller-scale hospitality projects in the Middle East and East Africa. Our goal is to develop contemporary interiors of depth and warmth, through thoughtful design, beautiful lighting, bespoke furnishings, antique finds, and quality textiles utilising an extensive network of established suppliers, artisans and craftsmen, predominantly from Europe.
We are looking for a talented, experienced, motivated and down-to-earth interior architect who would like to use their skills in a new context and create unique atmospheres with us.
Key responsibilities:
- assisting in curating a creative vision in collaboration our clients and design team
- delivering and developing design work from concept to delivery both autonomously or as part of a team
- ability to develop design concepts and ideas in line with the project identity with confidence
- liaising with client representatives, external consultants, suppliers and tradespeople
Knowledge and experience:
- excellent knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp and Office Suite
- ability to use 3D modelling software or AI programs would be an advantage but not essential
- knowledge in studio design or similar FF&E scheduling software would be an advantage but not essential
- ability to analyse architectural, structural, MEP plans and drawings and, where applicable, propose ways in which to improve them to create stunning, functional interior spaces
- proven experience working on luxury residential projects
- knowledge of space planning and concept development
- producing furniture layouts based on client’s needs and brief
- experience producing comprehensive detailed drawings packages and schedules
- good knowledge of joinery, fabrication and construction detailing
- designing custom furniture and producing detailed furniture drawings
- communicating closely with external consultants, contractors, lighting designers and local architects
- ability to design, source and specify appropriate FF&E within various budgets from concept to completion
- producing FF&E schedules
- reviewing and approving shop drawings
- attending client meetings via Zoom and undertaking site visits when requested
- attention to detail
- excellent time management skills
- strong multi-tasking skills
Qualifications:
- appropriate master’s or bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior architecture or interior design from recognised university
- minimum of three years’ proven experience in high-end residential interiors, references to be provided
Requirements:
- must have in-depth knowledge of materials, furniture and suppliers
- must be a team player and a self-starter
- must have great problem-solving skills
- must have ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- must have ability to differentiate the needs of different styles and looks based on project brief and deliver those styles
- must have strong communication skills; excellent written and spoken English
