About the role

In this role, the post holder will programme manage design management services to facilitate the delivery of the museum’s core capital and masterplan projects by leading and coordinating design managers in the team.

Projects are museum-wide and range from high-profile, front-of-house projects to innovative infrastructure projects, along with renewal and replacement projects in a unique heritage environment and organisation.

This role aims to provide assurance that robust design management practices are integrated within programme delivery, and that projects are fit for business requirements and befitting of a world-leading museum. This is a highly skilled role, requiring the post holder to draw knowledge on core-built environment disciplines, including architectural interfaces, heritage/listed buildings, MEPh engineering, sustainability and fire safety, among several others.

About you

Working in a highly skilled role with a variety of stakeholders, you will be educated to degree level in a construction or built environment-related discipline (or with equivalent experience), and will have excellent communication abilities. You will have significant experience working in museum or gallery environments as well as knowledge, skills and experience working with planning approvals and listed building consents. A competent manager, you will have had prior experiences line managing, providing pastoral care and/or leading teams and will be able to monitor progress against action, as well as working in listed building contexts. A self-starter, you will work upon your own initiative, managing targets and timelines for various projects and briefing relevant stakeholders as necessary.
