Financial controller

Studio Toogood is seeking an experienced financial controller to join its growing studio in east London.

You’ll enjoy all aspects of financial management to ensure your directors and colleagues have the most up to date, reliable information; helping them to make the best possible financial decisions.

You will be responsible for:

  • implementing policies and new finance systems and evolving best practice
  • managing finance and accounting activities across all departments
  • maintaining robust financial controls and reporting procedures across the business
  • maintaining systems to monitor group compliance with statutory, tax and audit requirements
  • working with staff and directors, ensuring that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely
  • managing weekly and monthly financial activities, including forecasting, planning and reporting
  • production of timely management accounts and production reports. Monthly management accounts for three departments
  • VAT and EC returns
  • ensuring the delivery of clear accounts for annual statutory accounts and managing relationships with chartered accountants
  • annual budgets
  • payroll
  • bookkeeping
  • payment processing, including international transactions
  • invoicing

Requirements

  • proven familiarity with UK GAAP Accounting standards and best practice
  • bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/ business/related discipline – or equivalent professional experience
  • accredited accountancy qualification – ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA – or equivalent professional experience
  • previous experience in positions requiring analysis of and reporting finance results
  • you have experience of working with data mining and reporting tools – SQL, MS Access, Essbase/Cognos, alongside other financial systems
  • thorough knowledge of Xero
  • Apple/Mac proficiency
  • strong financial modelling skills
  • advanced proficiency in MS Excel eg. using pivots and lockups
  • proven expertise in financial management, evaluation and swift analysis; always providing meaningful reporting
  • proven ability as a manager of strategic relationship with business partners
